I've recently switched over to quick drag from using bait runners pretty much for as long as I can remember, I bought the sonik 8000 XD tournos which out the box seems an impressive reel, I haven't had chance to use them yet but my immediate concern would be the quick drag, I bought them after reading and watching reviews that say they go from full spool lock to free spool in half a turn, however after half a turn there's still a fair bit of force required to take line, even with full two turns the spool is nowhere near as free as when I have my baitrunner enabled, I'm just concerned that the extra resistance on the quick drag reels will effect the takes / runs? Especially as I do cat fishing as well.
Does anyone else have these reels? How do you have yours set up?

Change the washers in the spool to carbon ones . if you want to speed the drag up from less turns from locked up to free spool can get them of ebay search Sonik carbon spool washers

Cheers, I'll have a look now and get some ordered! Do you use quick drag reels? I think it's just with me using baitrunners so long I'm used to no resistance when fish are going on runs yet with the quick drag even the most free setting there's still a noticeable difference and more tension in the line before it spoils off

Contact Six String Scott on here, I know he fishes with a set off these reels and feel certain he will give you some good info

I have 3 Sonik X RS 8000's and did the ice washer conversion on them and it made the difference of 2 turns down to 1/4 of a turn for fast drag,
