This is a good starting point for a basic base mix that catches loads of fish, you can add or take away a few bits as you please but it rolls well and if you fish well you cant go wrong all ingredients from quality baits and it works out under £3.50 a kg including post.
Semolina 2kg
Soya flour 1kg
Supergold 1kg
Clo 2kg
Lt94 2kg
Pre dig 1kg

Its a 9kg mix but a good all round base, personally i add:

Whole egg powder 300 gram
Kelp meal 300 gram
I have been making my own bait now for 35 years and made plenty of mistakes listening to all the crap around bait, personally i find the more ingredients and secret bits n bobs you use they start working against each other, this works for me and iv been known to catch the odd fish or two in the last 35 years.

I know someone who uses a very simple recipe and catches rather a lot of carp.

Not that different to the BM1 mix I listed all them years ago. Still using a version of this myself and it still catches me a few kippers Simple enough mix that you can add a few extras too without breaking the bank.

Wish I had time to roll more myself, anyone want to roll some for me

Been making bait 35 years smurf although that basic mix around 20 but as you say you can change a few bits as long as the structure is there I rarely use a flavor just some amino
