Anyone on here know much about them ? Which ones are the most accurate ? I'm have a lot of trouble getting my one to work when out on the lake , it works perfect in a field , but sends me in all sorts of directions on the water. Using a garmin etrex vista Hcx .

There are some previous threads about this I think.
That's a good unit , main thing is to mark your spot on a consistent way to start with.
What I do is drop a h block.
Then to mark the spot I approach it from about 10 meters in a straight line and at a constant speed and take the mark when you want. This helps the unit have a good accuracy and also the software will generate a better overall position.
This is because the worst thing you can do is to be spinning around over a spot as it will confuse the software this goes for any gps unit where it's in a bait boat or in your hand.
Try and use the same principle of a constant speed and course when finding your spots.
Other things that will help are try not to stand over the unit as it with block the satellites and have it turned on for a few minutes before hand to make sure its tracking satellites as well.
Also I think that unit has a enhanced accuracy feature called waas. Make sure its turned on as it will help improve the overall accuracy.

Just use google maps, make sure as you approach your marker you switch the motor off and paddle in allowing time for the app to catch up. Gets you within a meter of the spot, then just donk your lead to find the sweet spot
