Only looking as I now have 2 x GT Biomasters that the balearms have become
Detached from the non roller side

On many reels these are a press fit and/or a small grubscrew. Certainly the case on some old shimano stuff. Blob of epoxy or similar, job done.

I have one that I use for my marker work whilst the spod reel is an emblem.

So far, the Sonik has been ok- build quality is solid, if a little plasticy - compared to the Emblem the cranking power is reduced but I guess it is a smaller reel overall (and considerably lighter).

If you can, I'd stretch the budget to an Emblem or similar level spod reel

I was recommended the wychwood dispatch spod reel on here and it's been fine all year.. used it more last year that I would normally and on a very weedy lake used it for raking spots with a 5 inch rake aswell.
The braid ain't to bad but I do use a 50lb leader

Not a grub screw as far as I am aware
The end of the bale arm is pinched flat ( designed that way )
It s almost like it's missing a c clip washer to prevent it pulling through
It's either that or the side panel that screws on
The hole for the BA has got bigger through time/ use
Now letting it slip through all the time Rather than retaining it
If someone can find the schematic for the 8000 biomaster GT circa 20 years old
Did have a quick look online but kept going down the wrong rabbit holes
And ended up looking at other stuff / reels etc

Buy cheap buy twice I hear ya
It was a 2birds one stone kinda job
As I need to re spool 1 reel with braid as well

you'd probably find a second hand one on ebay for 30 quid to cannibalise for parts

Cut the bale arm off, just place line in roller by hand. You wouldn't like the speed Of the modern reels..

I had considered that option funnily enough
Even tried forcefully removing the arm from the roller
Getting it cut clean / smooth was why I refrained from
Trying one
