I've been going to Birds Green in Ongar, Essex on and off for the last 25 years.
Have always thought that the latest bailiff was a bit of a lazy bugger and had a terrible "can't be bothered" attitude.
The fishery rules state that a day ticket is only valid between 7.00am and 7.00pm. No leaders. No spodding or spombs. No bait boats.
I got there at 6.45am last Monday and saw a few anglers already there fishing, none of which had done the night as I previously checked that there had not been any bookings. One guy had rocked up at 5.00am and was spombing and using a bait boat. A bait boat on a 2 acre lake!
I got there this Monday morning at 6.30am, got out of the car to see what the form was, and there was literally one swim available. 6 had been doing the night and the rest (7 anglers) had got there at 4.30am, 5.00am and 5.15am.
I just went back to the car and went home. I belong to a club, but my friend has got back into his fishing, so don't mind meeting him at a day ticket once a week.
I called the bailiff when I got home and his attitude was appalling. "What do you want me to do?". "I've been on about this for years". Tells me to write in, but nobody will probably end up reading it.
No point in having all these rules on the website really. "Fishery management reserve the right to remove anyone at any time who they feel has breached the any of the fishery rules".
I'd say he just wants the money and doesn't give a monkeys? A bailiff with absolutely zero control over his own lake.

I used to fish Birds green years ago when I got back into carping, so feel your pain.
As the new bailiff is happy enough for people to bend the rules for a quiet life you either take the attitude of if you can't beat them join them or fish somewhere else.
