Help please I'm getting 2 daiwa spod reels next week as Father's Day present there coming with the fox marker & spod braid and a shock leader just need to no if the braid will fill the spool or will I need some backing on first

I've got the spod reel and always back mine out mate with cheap sea mono 30lb breaking strain I used the cheapest i could find which is normally around a tenner on mine I've got 50lb whiplash and would just about fill it without

For two reels you will need plenty of backing. Like the other guy said cheap bulk spool of 30lb line will do the trick.

Backing definitely. Personally I prefer a thinner line such as .30 for backing as I think it sits better on the spool. Tried thicker in the past but the braid can bed down into it and i just don't think its sits as well.
