Hoping to slim down my rod bag to be able to fit it in the boot. Can just about squeeze in a smaller rod bag so 5 foot would be the max.
What's people's opinions on 10 foot rods? Will never be fishing 100 yards or further so not really needed for casting far at all. Or would I be better to try and get a 3 piece 12 foot rod?

Yep 10ft rods are great it's all I use for the last few years don't fish any big water so 12ft rods ain't needed for my style of fishing

I found 3 piece rods a real pain breaking down and storing with reels still on and line threaded.
Have a look at the Daiwa Powermesh 9ft 2.75 Stalker but avoid the silly 50mm butt ring version. Nice build and action and very good value.

Depends what your budget is you could stick with sonik 10ft extractors or pay more for free spirit 10ft or fox explorer look ok

There's people on here better able to explain this than me but rods can feel more pokier for the same TC the shorter you go. I'd be inclined to go down to 2.75 at 10ft if you're happy with 3.25 at 12ft. That said action is everything so important to try before you buy if you can.

Agree with that, i had some 3 piece yac stalkers a few years ago and they were a real pain in the arse to break down and put away with your rigs attached.
