I'm taking my 11 yr old son to Poultons at Berners Hall next week. He's recently started to really get into his fishing and it's some much needed dad and lad time for us both.
I've never fished there before, anyone got any advice to get us off in the right foot?

Hi , before you go to Berners give them a call , as lake will be closed if the carp are spawning

So just got back from a Poultons - nice lake, very changeable weather which meant initially the fishing was tough.
After spending the afternoon chasing the fish round to no avail, we had the horrible scenario of my son loosing a fish at about 6pm - he was absolutely gutted after all the hard work we'd put in.
Things took a ten for the better when at about 8:30pm I had a low 20, then after a quiet night his rod in the far bank rattled off and Harry had his first 20. He was made up
The morning feeding spell finished with a further 2, a high double for me and little stocky for Harry. Rods tight to the far margin doing the trick
Great times, will definely be going back
