bare with me as I'm new to this but any help will be greatly appreciated so here goes.
I'm going to be starting at a new venue and i can get away for a 24 hour session, if you turn up and see carp moving do you cast to them without knowing what bottom you will be fishing over? will that not spook them away having the lead splash close to them?
would you use your marker and lead to find a spot near them or would that ruin any chance of catching?
how much bait do you put out and how often do you recast a rig if your not getting bites? do you keep putting bait in your swim if your not catching and how often would you do that?
if you don't see any fish activity when you turn up would you use your marker and lead to find a sweet spot and pile a load of bait in and hope they come to you?
if your on the fish will spodding over them scare them away?
the lake is only about 2.5 acres and its heavily fished, stocked with about 100 carp from 8 to 25lb

If I was on a new lake with no info it would be really softly softly. I would fish bags, solid or mesh to likely spots or showing fish and I would be looking, lapping, and listening. Watch the anglers who are catching, is anyone spodding, when is bite time. Information is the key and every lake different. That's what carp fishing is. Nobody can give you the answers.

As already said, each lake is different as are the carp so its something that you will learn over time. Obviously Covid has changed a lot of rules but prior I would always advise a new person to visit the water, spend a few hours walking and looking for fish, talk to the other anglers for advise. If you are able to do so without disturbing people take a marker with you and have a look about before your session. Obviously if its busy that might not be possible, but for future times I always visit a new lake in winter and spend some time mapping out areas.
If the lake has a website or social media take a look through the photos and see if any areas are more popular. You can also take a look on Google Earth to work out if there are any gravel bars or patches that stand out.
