I'm just getting back into carping after a long absence. I've been getting my gear together and I have a fox trigger lock but I cannot understand how they are supposed to work. I can fit my landing net arms into it no problem but what makes them quick release? I find myself having to remove the arms as if it's just a fixed block instead of a quick release. I've looked on YouTube but there's nothing.
Any help would be gratefully received. It doesn't look broke, it looks like all the others I've seen. Thank you.

I have the very same and like you found it difficult
What you have to do is push the arms outwards to take the tension off the block then push the lever forward on the spreader.
Totally defeats the object and like you I just pull the arms out

You spread the arms outwards to take the pressure off the block which effectively auto releases it.

Oh I see now. I totally misunderstood how it was supposed to work. I will get back out n see how it goes.

I've got a couple of them and has been my net for the last 20 years. Love mine and be gutted if they ever break as they were discontinued many moons ago
Just put your forearm in the net near the block and push the arms out a little with your hand and elbow, this releases the pressure as mentioned before and the lever can easily be pushed up which collapses the arm parts of the block
If you don't get one with it I'll buy it off you

Daft idea if you ask me...I sold mine years ago on ebay got £75 for the spreader block arms and net didn't have the original pole but can imagine it would be 100+ if I did

There's one on the bay now for £45 might sell mine and buy a new net
I have 2 of them, the 50" version and am wondering if there is a replacement net that fits the arms ??? Or arms that fit the lock system itself?

I think any 50” mesh would fit on the arms. On my 2 42” ones I've replaced the mesh over the years easily enough. Same with replacement arms, as long as the diameters/style of the arms are the same they will fit. I believe the actual blocks are the same on the 42” and 50” it's just longer arms that make the net bigger
