Hi All,

I recently got back into angling last year and am now looking for a venue a little 'nicer' than the day tickets I've been to. I currently only fish days and was going about once every 2/3 weeks last summer.

I'm in the south Essex area and spent most of my time last year at Tylers Common in Upminster. Love the venue but it's always super busy and I always find myself next to the screaming kids arguing with their parents...

Can anyone suggest a low cost members lake?
Currently considering Wharf Pool Fishery pads lake which has a mixed stock and is £200 a year.

Looking for:
- Carp around 20-30lb
- No screaming kids
- I'm solo so some confidence in leaving the swim for 10 minutes
- Option to get a feeder of float rod out if I feel like it (not too important)


Side note: Can anyone explain the difference between a Members lake and a Syndicate? All I know is that members is usually cheaper.

Pea lane in Upminster. Dont have to be member to do days and is a lot quieter than Tyler's, better fish too

Also churchgate in battlesbridge. 3 lakes one of which is members only and you have to be member to do nights. Cafe and tackle shop on site

I think when your saying a members lake, your referring to a water where you pay a membership fee to join, then extra per day session.

Id recommend a club...which this sounds suited to what your after.

Have a look a CAPS (Colchester Angling Preservation Society) or CAA (Chelsmford Angling Assosiation)

They offer multiple lakes for a good price, they take on a large number of members to offer the cheap price so can be busy during peak times but as you have multiple lakes gives you the choice to move if need be.

Yeah just to be clear

Pea lane was 200 a year and you dont pay anymore, Churchgate was 50 quid a year but you pay everytime you fish too
