I'm looking at getting another Aqua Atom after foolishly selling my old one. I loved the fact that the original atom could be stripped right back and used with 4 pegs, weighing next to nothing (lighter than any brolly that I've tried replacing it with!)
These original atoms are becoming pretty scarce now, so I wondered how the new version compared. Has anyone used both? I'm interested in the stripped back weight of the new one, as the marketing suggests 6kg but surely it can't be that heavy on its own. Also, how much bigger is it? As I quite liked the diminutive size of the last one, as it made it useful for day sessions with just a low chair.

I didn't find the atom quick to set up just same as bivvy just smaller I would go for tempest v2 atom very expensive

Take a look at the Titan hide it's pretty much the same weight as the atom, but bigger foot print, miles quicker to set up and you only need a few pegs plus you don't have to zip the door down if it rains.
I sold my atom within a few sessions of using the hide.

I've used both and currently use an atom plus for all of my fishing. It's the perfect size bivvy, I've always been a brolly person but got sick of the rib issues, went to an atom, too small for me and I travel super light, then to a tempest, miles miles to big, now to the plus. Does it all for me, can be stripped back to use like an umbrella in summer and battened down in winter.

Thanks for your reply mate? What is the Atom Plus's packdown size and weight like compared to the original? When I had an atom before I used to just break down each pole in two places and role it up into a quiver, I loved how easy and light it was. I also don't want to feel like a gimp on a day session, sitting under a larger bivvy just on a low chair. Cheers

It's a tad bigger, but when you roll the sides back it's very similar to a 50 inch brolly.. I do the same with mine now, break it in 2 spots and roll it into a quiver. I'm really pleased with it, perfect footprint bivvy something I've been after for many years.
