Anyone use the Shimano XTD's I want to load them up with allot of braid hopefully at least 450 meters + for use on large public lakes. Anyone else using these. will they do the job? Will they stand up tot the abuse for this type of fishing?

Not used the shimmies but I've got the penn affinity 2 8000 and they'd hold that and more probably and brilliant reels for the money and built like a tank.

If you want bucket loads of capacity and bomb proof then would be worth seeing if you could get some second hand original Big Baitrunners.
I've got the Ultegra Ci4 14k and they would certainly take a load of braid without the reducers on.
I have used them enough to say how hard wearing they are but mine haven't missed a beat as yet.

Probably a bit more than I want to spend seeing as I need 4 and I want some thing that I don't really care gets battered or at the very worse knicked

I use Ultegra Ci4 XSB's for my long range (400+m) braid reels for my European fishing , superb reels which I picked up second hand £450 for 4 second hand they come with 3 spools each too

Fox fx13's ? Huge capacity ...have had them few years now on my distance setup...great line lay and smooth drag...not had any issues.
I also have the ultegra ci 14000, like someone has already mentioned will take ample line with the reducers removed...

Have a look at Wychwood dispatch.... They come preloaded with 200m of braid..but theres a fair bit of mono backing and im guessing they will take close to 400 m of braid . Can be found for around £50 a go
What about the Okuma 8k big pit reels?
I don't know if they are any good, i've only ever seen a youtube video with Adam Penning promoting them.
But the specifications look to suit your criteria.
They look to sell for around £80 new or cheaper on the secondhand market.
