Like a lot of people in this lockdown I'm sure I've been looking at what tackle I might be able to replace or upgrade as a substitute for actually fishing. I've been using Penn 7000's for quite some time now and I'm wondering what the next step up from these might be? I'm not rich enough for Basia's but something around £250 to £300 is the range I'm looking at. Big pits and distance fishing is my usual mode of fishing. No baitrunners though.

What are the tried and tested recommendations?

I went from the Penns to the Ultegra Ci4s 14000 XTBs and have been more than happy with them

I went from the penns to the original daiwa tournament ISO's, you might be able to get some second hand in your budget

I upgraded from the penns to the entoh. Then went back again. Massive mistake, the penns are as good as anything in the mid range bracket, and actually better than most. Do yourself a favour, save some money, stick with the penns
