Just a word of warning, my employees work on large construction sites and I had an email yesterday from Willmott Dixon with new guidance to add to our toolbox talk along with all the other Covid-19 advisories which was based around using alcohol based hand sanitisers.

Basically evidence was given from an Interclass site where upon one operative who had applied said type sanitiser had touched a metal surface before the alcohol content had evaporated, a static electric shock set the alcohol content on fire and the guy ended up with burns and blisters all over his hands.

EDIT- I should add i'm not that stupid to know that Alcohol isn't flammable just that the alcohol content in a santiser would be strong enough for this to happen and something as small as a static shock could ignite it

Makes sense how it can happen but it's something you wouldn't normally think about.

I've had an acetone soaked cloth go up when the static arced to a socket screw, just a momentary flash and a stink of burnt hair from my hand. Sanitisers are over 60% alcohol so would be very flammable.

I'm actually carrying a pump up spray bottle and loads of water in the van so can wash regularly, my skin couldn't cope with sanitiser that often, my hands looked like a 90 year olds
