can anyone tell me if they still have trouble with thefts like they used to have not been there for about 17 years.

Such a big space to police they cannot be fully accountable for the few that undertake such sad lives to rob someone's tackle, I have been a few times in recent years and never experienced anything along these lines. K eep your tackle tight to you and think about reducing the opportunity and you should be fine. One thing to remember don't assume it's visitors to the site it could very easily be the guy fishing next toyou that could have your stuff away in seconds.

I think they had one theft last year but apart from that I don't think they've had any.
I agree with the comment below, it could have easily been other fishermen.
The gates are locked each night.
I've fished there quite a bit over the last 18 months and have never see or heard of any trouble. It's always so busy I find it hard to imagine how anyone could nick tackle without someone hearing or seeing something.
Having said that, I always fish with a open fronted shelter and have seen loads of people in zipped up bivvies

24hr security didn't stop them breaking into the shop last year proving thieves will do as they please, just give a little thought to try and put them off, don't give easy pickings like leaving spods,marker rods barrows in trees etc ....reduce the risk is what it's all about.

There was a similar post recently about keeping wheel barrows secure. Again it was hinted that other anglers may actually be the thieves themselves not Joe public.
Shocking really that fellow fisherman are willing to nick another man's gear knowing that the chaps probably had to work hard to afford a nice setup. Sad really. There's always one that spoils it for the rest of us.

I fish here quite often as it's pretty close to me, it is always busy, but with so many lakes you can normally get in. Never had any problems all the times I've fished it, gates are locked every evening and most swims are quite open so easy to see someone else around?

A bit off OP topic but thought I'd share as it brought this memory back...
My dad used to work as a security guard at the shipyard in Barrow. There was an agreement that you could take surplus sand home (not sure what it was used for to be honest - maybe something in the casting dept.) and a few lads would do this for garden projects etc.
Anyway the guards got a hunch that one bloke was up to no good - possibly nicking tools etc. from the yard. Every few weeks or so he'd finish the week taking a barrow full of sand home for various projects he was doing. The guards got to searching through the sand each time to try and find anything that shouldn't be there - with no joy.
It took them a while but eventually someone twigged - he was nicking the barrows!
