Im in the market for a spod rod. Im an average caster and want to chuck a large spomb max 90 yards. Also dont want to spend silly money.
What rod would you recommend?

I have a fox warrior S Spod rod, not sure you can get them new any more but should get one for less than £50 second hand. Mines taken serious abuse over the last 6 or 7 seasons and has been faultless. It's not a high end rod by any means but robust and durable and happy with anything up to 100 yards or so with a large spomb and 30lb braid. I can't fault it.
Edit: one on eBay but it's collection only.

My brother has got and swears by the Greys GT spod rod, for the money I haven't seen better.

Can't go wrong with one of these, can pick one up from fishing republic for £64.99

I Purchased the Tackle box CF-X Spod rod. I used to use a greys spod rod but this new one i have greatly improved accuracy and distance. What is your budget? I think i paid just over £100 imo a bargain.
Edit: My old spod rod couldnt really handle a loaded large spomb.

The greys take a fair bit to compress I sold mine because I couldn't my brother brought the gt model and is selling his same problem But like everything it might suit you.

Free Spirit CTX is, for the money, the best performing I can think of. I have a Hi S spod costing three times as much and having also used the CTX, can assure you it's very good in comparison to a top-end blank. Don't think you could go wrong with one of those

The CTX is a cracking rod, I only got rid of mine when I upgraded to the Torrix

Yeah another vote for the fs ctx... Got the 13ft version... Excellent spomb/spod rod for the money, easy to use and 13ft ideal if baiting up at range...

The Fox Horizon x3 are fantastic, unbelievably good for the money! I'm able to lob a lead further with them than I can with my x5 rods!
Can't recommend them enough!

Shimano TXa spod rod, I've got the 13ft model, cost about £80, looks good, cast 90 yards stupidly easily.
