I've been playing around with making floater cake in anticipation of when we can finally get out after the carp!
My question is has anyone got any recipes they're willing to share or suggest ?
Regards
Leigh

Type "floater cake" or "carp cake" into YouTube search - good starting place.
A few hints:
Basis of the cake I make is john bakers super milk base mix.
Add three level tea spoons of baking powder per 8oz of base mix then add at least the same number of eggs that you would add to 8oz of flour in a Victoria sponge. Then add colour and flavour mix it all up and bake.
Dont ask me temperature of oven, number of eggs, baking time - my wife looks after that side of things.
You should get that from youtube.

Thanks for the info Tony appreciated 👍
I'm on my 8th carp cake over the last week or so, I've been playing around with all sorts of ingredients, it's certainly opened my eyes to the potentials and the local park lake carp seemed to like the latest incarnation this afternoon whilst out walking the dog!
Cheers

Brian Skoyles - the original and best floater cake.
Bri uses Hi-Nu-Val, which is still available from Nutrabaits I believe. However, I prefer Blakes Baits HNV Pro.
HNV Pro from Blake's Baits.

Thanks Ken! I used to enjoy reading Bri's articles back in the day! He's a great rod and could always convey a good article with decent material.
I've been playing with raw ingredients and making base mixes from scratch but I'll check out Blake's
Cheers

But, Wow, the most expensive duck food you could ever catapult out on the wrong water/s
Great mix back in the day when Big Bill & Co did it.

Great mix back in the day when Big Bill & Co did it.
It was a good bait but pure milks are not the answer to the perfect bait. I was on Hi-Nu-Val on College and doing well...Until the Prems arrived. Knocked the HNV into a cocked hat!

Some of Brian's surface techniques and set ups for surface fishing hes adopting in his more recent YouTube material is certainly eye opening!
His helicopter setup looks great and something I'll be adopting and giving a go this summer, my current syndicate is barely surface fished at all by other members and I'm hoping to club a few of its residents. I'm probably only going to use the cake as hook baits most of the time and try and use the greed factor as Bri describes.

Yes Ken, the Premier Baits era certainly changed many peoples perception on quality milk proteins being the dogs boll*x, and also their bait budget was much lighter, win win.
