Can you create a more Buoyant Pop up mix by adding milk proteins ?

Just use Bafs for an example

85% pop up mix
5% calcium
5% whey protein
5% whey gel

Would this be more buyount aswell as more attractive ? Or is there a more suitable product

Thank you.

Ideally looking to create 12mm pop ups that hold up a size 4 hook for longer period without the use of cork.

The milk protein you list will be heavier than the pop up mix, sodium calcinate might be lighter.

Why no Cork? I suspect the really buoyant pop ups use a lot of glass or plastic spheres, so why joy Cork?

I've made them with cork and happy with the results but would like to Improve them without the use of cork also.

You get a lot of miss shapes so was hoping adding milk proteins would also reduce boiling times.

I thought whey protein and calcium may have been lighter. Calcium defiantly

Calcium caseinate will make it softer due to its solubility but will increase the buoyancy. Whey gel will harden it. The BAF mix is very buoyant anyway but if you are looking at 12mm only you will struggle without the microballs. Cork dust is sh*te.

Maybe ask BAF as their mix shows what is in it and it has milk of kinds already so maybe they may recommend something lighter than what's in there that is not already there or something....

If you add Cork granules, of 0.5mm to 1.0mm to the BAF pop up mix at a ratio of about 3 pop up mix to 1 granules with a little egg alb and whey gel you might just achieve what you are after. A 14mm should be okay but 12mm might be asking too much.

I made up some hook baits last year with 3 parts pop up mix, 3 parts milk proteinmix and 3 parts Cork. They held up a size 5 chod hook on a hinged stiff rig.

Jesus, how much more buoyant do you want your mix? I made a batch of the BAF mix a while back, I've had onc pierced and one tied on 14mm bait in a bowl of water, popped up off the lead for the last seven days and they show absolutely no sign of sinking at all, and that was a mix made with extra heavier powders.

I'm actually thinking I might add even heavier additives next batch so they don't need as much putty.

I get 48 hours out of the pop ups before they show signs of dropping on a size 4 Ronnie. No where near 7 days. That's 10% attractors liquid and food. And that's air dried for 6-7 days.

Look at the proper jobs 11mm holds up a size 4 for weeks.

It's not making them stop up longer more reducing the size off the pop up and maintaining the buoyancy without the need of cork.

Just ideas I'm playing with that's all.

Found the baf mix to be the best out there. Forget the milk, add ten percent krill meal to up buoyancy and food value
