Hi, I really want a power porter type barrow but am concerned about the pack down size when putting it in a car/small van. Most people I know who have them also have large transit type vans to put them in. What I need to know is are they easy enough to dismantle etc and put into the boot of an average sized car rather than a transit. Many thanks

I'd like one but there's no way i would get my gear plus one of them in the back of an A4 or anything similar, maybe into a the back of an estate.

Yes they pack down as small as any other barrow, front wheel with battery pack comes off, handle assembly off, if you want it totally flat take back wheels off as well, this will leave you with the main frame proberbly no higher than 6in, hope that helps

I used to have a Peugeot Partner and ramp it straight in the back, they are a slight ballache to dismantle if you don't have too far easier to leave in one piece, the front wheel assembly is basically a big heavy lump!

I'd like a system that allows you to just take off the front wheel and battery so you can leave your barrow on site.

I've got one and managed to get it and all my gear (I'd say I take way to much stuff) in a Clio when my van was out of action. Was a tight squeeze but got it all in..... just

Thanks, some mixed responses here. It sounds a bit of an ordeal to remove the battery etc in order to pack it down. I'm still a bit undecided really.

The battery sits in a tray and has a buckle strap on it so no drama taking it off and the front wheel assembly just slides on and off 2 legs and has a thumbscrew each leg, again no drama

Thanks mate that doesnt actually sound too tricky. A mate of mine has one and he made out it's not an easy operation. Think the benefits still outweigh any slight hassle packing it away.

Honestly they are fine mate but if I had the choice I wouldn't want to pack it down, in fact mine hasn't been out for about a year and it's been in the garage just upended leaning against the wall, I did take the wheel unit off though and slung it under the bench
they are brilliant on the bank though

I don't break mine down either and it goes in the van fully assembled but it's not that much grief to break down if needed
Couple bits of advice if you do get one is the get yourself a set of the puncture proof rear wheels!! Mine and 3 people I know with them have all had punctures in the rear wheels within a few trips. Also keep your eye on the charger and batteries when charging them. I've gone through 2 prestige chargers and on my 3rd set of batteries so went and bought a CTEK charger for my latest set of batteries

Ive got a mk7 24v pp that I wheel straight on to my vw caddy no problem, I fill the under bag, strap it down to stop it moving then strategically place my rucksack, divvy, food bag etc around it on the flor with my rods over the top and it fits fine.
They do pack down quite small, but it is a bit of a faff in my opinion as you need to unclip the bag, tuck in the side bars, remove the handle bars and the wheel and motor which itself is fairly awkward to line up with the axels when you refit not too mention that it is quite a bulky and big unit that's all normally covered in mud!!!
That said its probably only gonna take you 5-10 minutes
Im lucky to have a van as I say and wheel to straight in, I think if I had a car I wouldn't want the extra faff of packing it brick y brick and would stick to a porter lite (Which I have and use if I take the wives car as an example) I have to say they are an amazing small barrow that can carry as much as my old mk2 and pack down in no time
That or significantly cut down on the amount you take.
I will add if my PP broke down Tomo id buy another one though immediately as they really are a great bt of kit if you take a load of gear or have a big walk or health issues they are a god send
