What are peoples opinion of an Oz tent being on the banks of lakes now that Ridge monkey have released there's ,I have had one for a year now and feel a little apprehensive about using it on a lake that say no tents allowed etc

Well Im in a club where there is a No tent under any circumstances rule
and when this was challenged at a recent meeting it was explained the Land Owner had said I dont want any tents !! only dedicated fishing brollys and bivvies
otherwise people that wild camp may start invading his land if they saw camping tents obviously this would vary as some clubs own the lakes

I'm sure somebody was telling me or I read somewhere Ridgemonkey took around 320no orders or thereabouts for all their variations of the Oz tent at Zwolle at the start of February, I wonder if they're all sat in a factory or container in China somewhere waiting to be shipped? has anyone on here ordered one/had one delivered yet could be a long wait.
No one would of had one yet as they ain't released until late spring the last I heard.
Like the business model though. Get a couple of samples for the shows, take a load of pre orders during show season. Once show season is finished and you have however many pre orders you'll know exactly how many to order so no initial outlay on stock and no guessing how many you are going to sell, a good business decision

That's retailer orders, RM dont sell direct. That number spread across Europe isn't a big number and the retailers then have to sell them on which i dont think will happen to quickly.

It doesn't work like that mate.
You have to commit to min volumes and upfront costs to secure manufacturing time otherwise you could take loads of orders and then find your supplier is too busty and cant make them and alternatively you could take no orders and then your supplier is left with sod all to do., no manufacturer is going to let you keep them dangling.
That said this is RM so these tents are probably being sold elsewhere for half the price and have been knocked out of a Chinese factory for the last 6 years.

So how comes they aren't available straight away then if they have to commit to x amount and pay up front costs?
Surely as a business you want to recoup your money ASAP? The 350 pre orders of let's say the cheapest model works out at about £250,000 at retail, so let's say it's cost RM £100,000 to make them 350 bivvys, why would they lay out £100,000 on bivvys them wait months and months for them to be ready for sale and make their money?
I still think they were waiting for numbers of pre orders before placing their order of the first batch

It doesn't take a genius to see With what's going on in the world at them moment it's hardly surprising that a product made in China isn't readily available yet.

These bivvys were “designed”, made and samples ready well before the Coronavirus come about? If they had to pay upfront costs and place a MOQ then the bivvys would of been ready and available months ago
I'm pretty certain the order for the bivvys has only recently been made once they had an idea of numbers, which, like I said is a good business model
The late spring release was mentioned well before the Coronavirus outbreak so god knows how long until release if there is any delays due to Coronavirus?

The rip off rm of the oz tent looks awful I have a oz tent but if I was looking for a cheaper copy I would buy the howling moon one as said before 👍
