Hi, I am looking at fishing the Vermuyden lake at Fenland Fisheries for the first time. Can anyone please give me a review and possibly some tips on this venue ? Cheers.

I've not fished it myself.
But there are a few YouTube videos online that i've seen of that lake.
Look for: Cast a line heseltine, dna baits 2019 winter series and another one i think is Gareth Compton.
Worth a watch.
It does look to be only around 2 acres in size and only has capacity for 4-5 anglers i think.
Holds at least a few biggies though!

Hey, I fish there when I can.
Small but picturesque lake with a lot of carp in it, according to the FB page the lake record was caught in Jan this year at just over 40lb so sounds like it is fishing well. Bottom is clear no real features, deepest parts is ~1/3 out from the bank opposite the road so I would start there. Limited overnight spots but a free for all during daylight hours especially at weekends. In the summer it gets nuts with every swim (~14 of them!) full, so the carp have seen it all.
Use a rig you are happy with but make sure its done as best as you can. Don't spomb as the fish know this means a hook bait will be there and will avoid that area, catapulting free offerings out is fine, you shouldn't need to put out a lot of bait as lots of it goes in anyway. Cell, CC More Live and the local PFC baits all work well there.
I have caught fishing singles even in summer, and also had success with small solid bags (wafter hookbait and pellets) . If its quite you can catch during the day especially with cloud cover if not I have always caught at dusk. The larger fish for me have always made a run to the reads at the edge as soon as they are hooked so watch out for that.
If you are able go to St Ives Tackle shop which is nearby as the people who work there know whats going on in those lakes more than most.

Hi, i have fished this lake for aboit 10 years onn and off and i agree with the majority below. These fish have seen it all , so just pick a bait you have confidence in. I have caught on eveeything from solid bags to 6 ft zigs. If your not on fish then keep tring different colours etc. I have seen multiple hits from spombing bait out after a catch so dont rile it out, onits day everything will work here, the skill/luck is working it out. Good luck

If your doing nights mate it has to be booked and mike only allows 5 on for nights so worth a ring . You can have a good hit on there especially floater fishing in the summer . Me and a fellow angler had 30 fish to 36lb on the surface and several 20s in just 3 4hr afternoon sessions . Good little pond mate

Sorry only just noticed you said for days. I would head round the back of the lake where they cut through the old Coppice pond. Nice and quite round there and you can catch them come through the split. The main swims will be occupied by night anglers . But if you can get on the back car park swim chance of a good hit there in the day

Full with fish and they love bait. Went last year for 2 nights & had 18 fish to 25lb just fishing bags.
