I've been looking for some reels for my 10ft rods, I think I've narrowed it down to these two, which would you recommend ? Cheers 👍

I've not handled the newest Shommy 5500, I have the Emcast 25's though, along with cast'izms. Would happily use the emcast on any rod and don't think you'd be disappointed with them. They perform like a much more expensive reel.
Whilst I haven't use one, I'm sure sure the shimano would also be a nice reel though and that you wouldn't be disappointed with either.

I've got the 14000 xtd and they're great reels.. Most of the time.
I've had line go behind the spools but usually that's just when there's not much tension on the line such as reeling in too fast or clipping up. Never had it happen with a fish on.
Other than that, the drag can be a bit sticky. You loosen it off but have to manually turn the spool to get it to actually loosen. I've heard this can be fixed with new washers but I've just got in the habit of testing the drag every time.
In spite of this, if I could go back, I'd buy them again.

Gone for the emcast 25a after reading plenty of good reviews online, £135 for 2 posted seems a bargain to me 👍
