I've compared them with the Basia 45 SLD in a tackle shop. They feel much more robust, solid and smooth, more Shimano like. They are slightly wider than the SLD, but shorter in length, so look more compact. but are v slightly heaver than the SLD. Only visual elements I don't like is the blue inside the rotor and would have preferred a black aluminium spool, although guessing the current spool material keeps the weight down. Presume line lay should be improved with the SCW although wasn't bad on the SLD: in reality it's likely a marketing gimmick as I think Shimano's slow oscillation made no/little difference to casting in tests and Daiwa's Castizm (25mm spool) only cast slightly less than a 45, but interestingly quite alot further than a 35mm!! If you're in the market to spend around £500 per reel prob compare side by side with the Shimano latest mgs14000 and also with the Emblem 45scwqd to see how much of a difference there is: there will be absolutely no difference in casting performance between the cheaper Emblem and the Basia, just weight.
