My car insurance is due to be renewed at the end of the month, at the moment I only have 1 car to insure but I'm thinking about getting another car/van just for my fishing, what I want to know is what is the best company for having a 2 car policy. I have 65% no claims and someone has told me that some companies will allow 65% on both cars whereas some will only do it on the main car and you start from scratch on the second car which makes it more expensive.

Thanks in advance

Can't help with the 65% on both cars questions but..........
For many years I had a Admiral multi car policy. Each year the renewal came in too expensive and I'd ring them up and each year they'd lower the price similar to what I could get elsewhere.
Last year I gave up the multi car policy and took one policy with AA and the other with AXA and it was so much cheaper Admiral couldn't price match. No doubt this year prices will go up and I'll have to switch again but my point is multi car policies are not always the cheapest

As Tinhead says might be worth individual quotes as insurers price different for different types of vehicle... for instance one may be cheap on cars but make up the shortfall on vans.... personally I find a company then google reviews, sometimes cheapest get some terrible reviews regarding claims so I would rather pay a bit more knowing any claim should I make one will be trouble free.

I insured my van with "one call" and they mirrored my car insurance NCD.

I'm with admiral I've two cars on one insurance policy
One of them is on limated milage. It does save me more money
So if you are going to get a second motor and have a rough idea of the mileage you are going to be doing could well be worth doing it on a limited mileage policy. Plus having them both on the same policy dose save you money. Also the more you have on a policy saves you money as in home insurance have a look could end up saving loads of money

I use Aviva Multicar for my Vauxhall Vivaro and Audi A5 with both me and my wife as named drivers.

I've been with Aviva for the last 4 years and have made a claim, everything is online and they don't charge for changes or a silly admin fee.

Like any insurance companies the renewal is always more expensive but I just get a new quote.

You can have 2 separate polices but just remember your no claims on a Multicar policy gives you the reduction on both cars, if your having separate insurance policies legally you can only use the no claims on one car.

Just so I fully understand are you saying that the multicar policy is an advantage or disadvantage when it comes to making a claim?

I insure 3 cars and a van. I cant find a firm to cover all..the vans worth a fckin tenner one car isn't worth a j Arthur. but costs more to insure than my tt.. best way I found is clearing search history and cookies before looking on another site.

I'm not sure to be fair, it works for me as I can insure both vehicles using my 10 years no claims.

If I had 2 separate policies I would have to choose what vehicle I was going to use the no claims for and then use 0 no claims on the other vehicle, if that makes sense.
