I hve recently moved to Balham and fo rhte forst time in my life I have the luxury of having a lake on my doorstep (Tooting Common Lake).
Getting all the necessary permits for the June start. Does anyone else fish there - would be good to have a buddy to go with, especially if they have prior knowledge of the lake

Sorry to resource to an old thread, are you fishing Tooting common? I live in Furzedown so it's a 10 minute walk for me and I am seriously tempted to join up so I can wander over with the stalking gear. It can't seem to find much info on it.

Fished it a few times with the aim of stalking. Got myself a nice little 6fter rod off TackleTarts - long story short it's tough. Incredibly silty, I'd say around 2+m of silt all round and shallow.
There are plenty of carp in there, but they are very shy and you are competing with dog walkers, kids throwing bread in, birds etc as well as a load of litter on the bottom. I wont be renewing this year
