Hi all, i have been an avid user of cm90 15lb for the last 2 years and it's not letvme down. Ideally I need to get a few extra yards and I'm ready to respool. Has anyone compared cm90 to pb control mono?
I'm looking at either stepping down to 12lb in the cm90 or trying pb control 24lb. Or.. I've been toying with the ideal of trying GLT pro gold or clear as they are back in stock now.

I've been using the 0.30mm 18lb version for best part of 2 years in weedy waters and not once have I been cut off or felt any abrasion marks on the line.
The only thing I found is, that you can't tie a grinner knot as it will slip due to the silicon coating, but the palomar knot holds no problem.
In my opinion, its the best line I've used in over 25 years of carp fishing.

This sounds like a very good line but one problem I have with low diameter line is that they are a pain to sink how does the pb line perform in this respect, especially with the silicon coating?

I've never had an issue sinking it, however I never fish slack lines so I don't know how it performs in that respect.

i used it in 18lb on one rod last and had no issues with it . Even managed to drag a 65lb sturgeon through the bankside tree line in Italy . Tough as old boots

Cheers for the advice.. I spoke to Terry Eustace earlier and they have the pro clear etc back in stock, I've wanted to try their line for a long time however after speaking with him he said the pro distance was actually better suited for fishing over bars than the pro clear so I'm going to give that a go in 12lb 0.35 as they have it in stock finally.
I will definitely checkout Pb control if I don't get on with this or I'll be back on cm90 booking some lessons with Terry Edmonds (need to do that anyway at some point)

i guess i must have had a bad spool then as mine was hopeless. Casts like a dream but has the abrasion resistance of swiss cheese. stripped it off all my spools and binned it after last trip having lost a couple of fish when it parted for no apparent reason when under very little pressure. Shame as it is a good casting line and i really wanted it to be good.

old thread but this happened to me too. I spooled up the 24lb version for a trip to a snag less lake in the cotswolds and had a screaming take this morning - ten metres from the net the line just parted for no apparent reason. didn't feel like it snagged on anything and in loads of fishing trips to this place I've never had a line part. not at the hook link either - probably about five metres up from it. very worrying, so I've put all my spare spools of flouro back on. sorry just can't trust it after that. this isn't a runs water and I can't afford to not trust my line.
sinks well though and is supple, but unfortunately I can't put any faith in it. haven't cast it as I use a boat here and probably won't ever now. shame - I liked the subtle green tinge to the line and as I say its the best sinking mono I've used yet.

Been using it for quite a few years and never had one single problem,you probably had a nick on your mono I've never had that happen ,I've a mate who uses fluro we fish the same water he's been cut off several times I've not been cut off at all

Got to say I am impressed so far on 24lb version. Had some savage fights through pads with fish to 27lb so far no issues. It has got a little coiled after fights but no where near as bad as I have found with other lines, catch rate has gone up slightly could be other factors but i think the thinner line has definitely helped. Not sure i would trust it on the sharp gravel bars in that breaking strain but sinks well casts well, coils a little, but nothing to be worried about and knots well, same diameter as 12lb lines 0.35. Noticeably thinner than 15lb glt Pro distance but i would be happier with that line over bars.

I have had this happen with gr60 15lb and thought wfh! Only to find later on i had a tiny nick in my top ring eye which had cut into the line then subsequently snapped when I hooked a fish. Was gutted as was on a very tough water on only 7th night!

My experience also, stopped using it probably 6 yrs ago and went to technium black after this, no more issues. Lovely line and really supple but when it just goes confidence drops off a cliff and gets stripped off all spools straight away.
