Has anyone fished the river Aisne that runs through the park Croix du Vieux Pont near Paris, or the lake on site? Have a week there in August, and just interested as to wether there is many fish in the stretch as it runs through many lakes..and indeed what is in the lake. Any information appreciated. Thank you

Personally, after the odd holiday there over the past 15 years, I'd go for the river. Put it this way, if it was in this country you would not flock to pay £15 a day to fish it. I fished the river for around 4 hours in total last time I went there. Had a 5lb Chub, a Barbel of around 7lb, and lost two much much bigger fish that snapped me up within seconds.
Well worth the 30 euro fee for a week.

Thanks for the info! So you obtain a river permit from site I assume? Do they permit night fishing on the river? I know the rest of the stretch outside the park is all night carp zone. Cheers

You need a carte du peche from chez Michelin the tabac on the hill turn right out the camp site. Lake used to be special then got ruined by the loads the biggest fish used to be pop eye hovered around 44 to 48lb if it's still there be much bigger lives around the boats at the top of the lake used to take full crab apples off the top and bully the ducks

The kiosk next to the lake sell the carte de peche too. I checked the maps and you can night fish on site, but spots are limited. As above, plenty of big chub to fish for, the occasional Barbel, and i've seen pics of decent carp and cats. Don't be scared to use your carp gear for the Barbel, virgin Barbel will put up a proper scrap.

There was at one time a long thread on this place so maybe worth a search. I fished there for a number of years as we used to use the campsite as a short haul destination for holidays with the kids. The latest info seemed to be no night fishing as the lake had been overrun by bivvies which were left in place whilst the owner went out for the day and day anglers couldn't get spots. There was some sort of fish kill there but the old thread seemed to imply it had been restocked. Really enjoyed fishing the lake mornings and evenings and whilst the kids were in the pool area. A few doubles most short sessions seemed to be the par. Had fish up to just under 30. The newer lake held carp and lots of small sturgeons. Only fished the river on odd occasions as access at the time was limited and there was a drop from the bank to the water which needed a long landing net pole, that may have changed now. The river was defiantly more peaceful than the camp site especially when the boats stopped running. I never bothered with a permit as only on the river for short periods and no one seemed to come round on to the camp site to check, that may have changed now. On the whole it was a fun place to fish for a few hours, on the old lake the island area was always good and had a very productive session fishing into the teeth of a big blow one afternoon. The margins were very good as the Ducks were always being fed there.
