I popped in here on route home from another venue (nr Mayenne). Not a very scenic lake (very open banks) and pretty featureless apart from some small islands one end.
Cabins with wifi I believe so comfortable fishing. Good lodge and facilities and apparently the food is amazing. The owner (Micky I think his name is) very friendly but did have another chap running the place. There were some lovely carp in there, nice big scalies to over 50lb.
The owner and the party fishing it all made the point it is a VERY swimmy lake. Most fish come from the willow swim (first one as you drive in (opposite bank) - fishing tot eh willow (only tree on the lake). To the point some weeks this an be the only swim to produce. This may have changed.
Sadly it did suffer a big fish kill back in 2017 - friends of mine were there when it happened. This was to do with a storm and the oxygenators not going on. They saw lots of dead fish and I've seen the photos and films - very sad.
Hopefully its recovered and on its way back - but this might be why there is much recent info.

When did your friend jez fish it? if you could find out that would helpful.. Just I had some info feed back from a group who fished it last year and all they had was doubles and 20's so our trip is in the balance here would prefer to lose deposit then sit on a lake all week with small fish thanks in advance.

Not really a lot of help given the post stating there was a fish kill in 2017 but we were at Ultimate Lake in September 2016. Six of us fishing and had about 20 fish between us, biggest 51lb with a few back-up 40's. Not brilliant but maybe that was down to us. As previously mentioned the Willow swim seems to do the most fish each week. The food was really not that good when we went, I would say average at best.
The owner Mick is a really nice guy although the lake was being ran by a bailiff for the previous 2 months prior to our arrival. Mick advocated that you should use minimum 12" hook links, I tried this but actually caught on the one rod where I was fishing with a short 3" hook link.

There was a thread on Facebook last yr about the place, under the page of the booking agent they use/used. It got very heated as an uphappy group found out about the issues in 2017. It got removed. Basically they tried to say only a few fish were lost, but this was not true! I'm not trying to cause the place to lose business, but places should be honest about these things! They weren't and this caused a lot of upset. I think the lake was on the way to being great, clearly a lot of work has gone into the place. The issues were also not down to the owner.
I hope this helps. I would want to know the truth if we were heading somewhere.
