Hi fellas, was wondering has anyone bought one of these? If so which of the supplied washers were used to get parralel line lay on the spool?..... can't find any info in the instructions.

Yes I have one of the ultegra xtd spod reels and didn't add any washers when I spooled it up with braid and found the line lay was perfect as it was

I am trying to make my mind up, between this and the Daiwas emblem spod reel, my old Daiwa reels are getting really hard to turn, they only cost 50 pounds about 10 years ago.

Ultegra xtd spod reel is a much nicer reel you won't be disappointed

Used my shimano xtd spod reel For 2 years, its horrible now Really hard to turn The handle - my mates seized up Completely after 18 months....ive Gone back on my Old Diawa emblem spod Reel which is wobbly but works

You need to keep the internals of your reels lubricated.
Continual dipping in the lake to wash off spod spill or dampen the braided mainline will wash away the lubricating oils.
I packed my spod reel with grease and no longer dip the reel in the lake.
Problem solved and it has remained smooth for years now (original shimano spod reel).

Echo the below post 👍🏻 I've got the shimano spod reel and just abused it ..yes continual lake dipping to wet the braid and clean off reel resulted in the reel handle starting to seize finding it extremely hard to wind in..
I stripped back the reel gave it a good clean then lubricated all parts and the reels now like new...how long for god knows it's a habit dipping the spod reel🙈

Basically as I was told by the Tackle Box when they wrote off my old Emblem Spod - 'reels aren't designed to be continually dunked in the lake'. Use an XTD Spod now (which I much prefer to the Daiwa by the way) and just splash the spool with water rather than a full 'dunk'

A motoring bearing grease would be fine and would not melt in the hot sun or go too solid in the winter.
I'm lucky that I work in industry and just take a small scoop from the bulk drums we have hanging around in work
