I'm struggling to separate these two reels, the Shimano reel has been out a while now however the new Emblem is new with little to go on. Similar spec, looks and price.

I've been using a set of xtd's since October last year, no complaints so far , and silky smooth to use compared to my 5000ts that I had before !
I took a punt as I got a mint 2nd hand set for £150 , happy so far after 8 months use
The slow osscillation gives a very nice line lay and the quick drag / clutch are spot on

The new Emblem is amazing value for money, I read Terry Edmonds has been using them on his lessons and has been getting awesome results from them and appears to rate them very highly.

That's a big endorsement from a casting instructor! Looks like I can't really go wrong with either reel, both appear good value.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, has anybody used the emblem 35 5000 ? They look really nice just interested to see how they perform

I have a set of the 35 scw's after using Infinity's for near on 20 years. The scw are a good reel to be fair for the money. Silky Smooth in operation, light, great line lay spare spool, good clips etc. QD clutch is quick - about 4/5 clicks from free spool to lock up which I don't like much as used to playing fish from clutch on infinity's. Not into backwinding due to knuckle raps from Mitchell's back in the day! Also prefer the one touch handle on infinity reels so have gone back to using them until the weed dies back and I can get used to the 35s without worrying about clutch control as much etc when playing fish. I also had one of the plastic line guards break on the 35 scw which cost £1.19 to replace.
The xtds are good too from what I hear, the spool is wider than the scw though

Bought a set of 3 on Weds,
I've not used them yet however I found them quite painful to spool up properly...to get the line cone shaping correct one of the three has no extra washers under the spool one has one extra and the other has two extra.
Not a particularly auspicious start but we'll see

I sold my XTDS after constantly having the spool clicker packing up,and line continually catching under the spool,faults highlighted by total carp in their magazine review,I bought the Daiwa SCW have not used them yet ,they don't feel as smooth as the Shimano ,but we will see ,however look at other threads on them ,faults are common place ,with the same issues i had

I decided to pay extra and get the shimano ci4 14,000 xtc and so glad I did, they are superb reels, well worth the extra £50 per reel, really light and super smooth, don't have anything bad to say about them 👍

Ian, is this a problem with just this model? (Line behind the spool) i know the spool clicker issues, as my current shimanos are clickerless.
Looking to upgrade this year, but like yourself, line behind the spool is something i wont tolerate, left that behind with my mitchel 410s nearly 40 years back

I had the same issue with my xtds so I took a few yards of line off. I think I overfilled the spools
Since then I haven't had any problems with them
