Ive been on X line for as long as I can remember and am toying with changing so would be keen on any feedback - Im thinking about Tiger line 16lb but also heard good things about Gardner Mirage

Tiger line is decent but breaks well below stated BS. I was using 0.33 which broke around 12lb (not the 16lbs stated).
It was definitely better than the X line I was using before in terms of behavior.
After hearing good things I've since changed to Venture fluoro in 0.33 and it seems just as good as Tiger, if anything it casts better and behaves no worse. Venture is only available from Erics I believe.
I use Mirage for leaders and that's good stuff too.
I found I had to stretch X line regularly but never bothered with Tiger or Venture.

have a look at the Berkley CF600 halve the price of Tiger and better IMO,
I've used Xline then swapped to Tiger but more than happy now with the Berkley.

I've just spooled up withe the 20lb berkley fluro and it went on well but I'm yet to use it!

Depends what you'd call well?
I'm getting 80yfs with a 3oz lead but dont need to fish any further than that with it and would probably switch to mono if I needed any further.
Rattles a bit on 40mm guided but sails through the 50mm

Sounds similar issues to the kontour I am using with the frapping around butt ring. I just wondered if it was worth trying ?

So two years on from my original thread and I purchased tiger line in 16lb, I was pleased with the tiger certainly behaved better than the x line but with the end of the season upon us Im looking at respooling again for the coming year and so wanted to know if there is anything better out there.
I know the Berkley cf 600 was rated high last time I asked but keen to double check before respooling

Korda kontour. Breaks at stated strain, casts well, and lasts well. Had some 12lb stuff on spools for 3 seasons, clean it up in the spring, still good as new. Use the 18lb since it's arrival aswell and can vouch highly for that, super super strong.

Another vote for the Berkley cf600
The 12lb does indeed feel more like a mono
Cast well, sinks well and breaks around the same as 17lb X line
I've used a few different Fluoro's and this is the best one I've used so far

To be honest I struggled with fluro
Rubbish knot strength and wirey stuff too many negatives against positives
Not avin the fish cant see it idea plus the modern monos like cm90 and synco have come on and sink as good as any fluro
I do me own knot strength testing by the way

in the past few seasons i've changed from tigerline to the ridgemonkey fluro (think this is a fluro/mono blend) then to gardner Mirage.
im now back on tigerline. will stay with it too

Still on the Berkeley cf600 but in 15lb now.
Doesn't cast as well as the 12lb but still fairly well behaved in comparison to others
I have noticed it frays with any friction that hasn't been lubricated, like a Korda rubber sleeve for a no trace bead.
That being said you just need to be mindful and remember to lubricate.
Palomar knot seems to be fine , ive landed large fish in very weedy water with it no problems.
I also use the Berkeley cm90 for anything over 60yrds again, this sinks well and breaks well beyond its diameter.
And no , Berkeley don't sponsor me but if they want to I'll consider
