However with a swim drop off service, the only exception IMHO is someone that is an older person, suffering ill health or is genuinely disabled.

When I did my tour, Rob did mention they were looking at a swim drop-off service as an 'extra', but the way it was explained, at the moment its looking like a very limited service if it even gets off the ground. Having had a better look around now, its a decent push to a lot of the swims so I reckon that fishing off the barrow and keeping total kit weight as light as possible has got to be the way to go.

That is the only way to optimise your fishing time, regardless of venue size.
Otherwise carping will become camping ⛺️

I've just bought the third wheels for my barrow I'll see how it goes but may invest in a power conversion one day.

My mate who used to fish there and I know a couple of the current members fish using bikes and trailers to get around. If you can get your gear down to a manageable amount that makes huge sense.

last walkabout, I was looking at the paths to/from the swims. If you've got a normal single-wheel barrow then access to all the swims, except maybe no. 7 and no.17, is do-able. If you have a wide barrow or a 4-wheel electric, you may also find the paths down to no.10 and no.11 to be a bit narrow - they are woodchip paths with plank edging boards. Single wheel - no problem. However I'd go and check the width before buying one of the bigger barrows, just to make sure it will fit !

The swims need to be marked as there is so much of the lake out of bounds. The swims are largely untouched there's only one or two that have been levelled and boarded. Apart from a small wooden post with a swim name and number on you wouldn't know that the swims were for fishing. I think they've done a really good job picking the swims and keeping it as natural as possible.

That point about being able/not able to deal with the distances was something that Rob was keen to point out when I went round with him. Its also one of the reasons I was glad I did the tour - at least I could see what I had to deal with. I reckon anyone who gets a ticket without seeing it first might be in for a bit of a surprise

Would be very interested in joining but not this season, will there be a waiting list once membership is full?

Evening Martin.
As it stands at the moment we have had a lot of interest. So we are not sure as of yet what we are going to do we might chap it at 50 if so there will be a waiting list. But members are are joining at different times of the year so I'm sure they well always be space.

Hi all - I'm Andy the admin guy for the WGP Syndicate.
Following on from Rob's last post, I can confirm that we've had a good initial response to the revised pricing and limited publicity. If/when the remaining Syndicate places are taken up, a waiting list will be created.
At this stage, with two lakes and 61 swims available, it is not envisaged to increase the number of places available above the present limit of 50. Also, as Rob pointed out, its a 12-month membership from the date you join, so we will have people joining and leaving at various times throughout the year. Applications welcome at any time.

Despite the cold conditions, a nice linear mirror just shy of 37lbs came out yesterday, and with the forecast for higher temperatures in the week ahead, it could be a good time to get out and go fishing. Here's hoping the fish have read the script!

I'll be around on Friday; couple of swim closures (22, 47) due to swans nesting, also some filming going on wed/thu (12/13) - warm weather will be nice for a change. Don't ignore the margins!
