Yeah your right there bud, that is another way of looking at it. The regular Rainbow anglers seem to get the right swims booked for the right time of year, and always seem to have the big hits, and then the not so regular anglers pick up the scraps long after the fish have moved into other parts of the lake.

It's not good angling at all but baits are fished in ridiculous spots to try and get a bite, they should know better, but caution is thrown to the wind, fish safety out the window in the hope of catching.

If they get caught they will get banned before getting a look in at the good pegs!

It sort of happened to us on our trip we fished the later part of November on the island and caught 10 fish between us, we stuck to our guns but I do think that we were just catching the odd straggler moving through, where as the the guys on the previous weeks had twice that many, and then the guy who set up in 18 for the last week of November, where the fish had obviously moved to had about 15 fish in the first four days of his week.

Coincidentally he was one of the regular well know anglers lol!

Unfortunately I think that a lot of guys are prepared to keep fishing at Rainbow in the not so good swims until they get their face know and move up the ranks so to speak.

God knows what the answer is though, maybe it pays to became a bit more famous before trying to fish at Rainbow lol?

My m8 Lee Ward took the photos, shame all he has caught so far is a 58 (pastie) common! Still got nearly 4 weeks there though to get amongst the monsters!

The report I have seen was that it was 88lbs 6ozs from the photographer and a very experienced carp angler, apparently that fish is about 6 to 8lbs below it´s normal weight.

All correct. Couldn't sort out the fish without Lee's help...just couldn't lift it from the water

Apparently,it picks up the weight at the beggining of the year...lets hope it will get back to 90lb+...

Well Happy Christmas to you all out there at the lake

When I was there at the end of November there was a bloke that I got chatting with at the shower block who was in 14, he said that he had a 70 while his mate was up the club house , he also said that one side of the swim is better than the other and that thy were going to swap for the second week. Good mates!

I noticed that the fish seemed to be on the move towards the areas of 18,17,16 and 14 as it got colder, is that usually the case for Rainbow?

I think that the island was good at the beginning of November but a bit hit and miss towards the end?

Lee has the right spotsmans figure for darts but I doubt he would want to take Tom on at football as he might lose.

Well done on the Scar common Tom great Christmas present, good job you asked Lee round he's had plenty of practice lifting lumps out the water ask him about when Teddy broke his leg in peg 16 at Christmas and we lifted him out of the water bearing in mind Teddy being about 20 stone at the time, I was fishing in 17 Lee had a fish on at the time as well.👍
