LOL...nobody needs to be proved right or wrong because there are far too many variables to consider...it may be mathematically possible, you can work the numbers however you wish but as someone who knows the set up there I'm telling you 150 members would not work.

There must be huge outgoing costs though. And I mean huge. If they really wanted a money making machine, built some wooden huts around the lake, and they would be charging 2k a week, not a year.

There are outgoing costs in any business, they are unavoidable and they will take a significant part of the income. They are however, generally tax deductable. Why would the costs at Grenville need to be "huge and I mean huge" as you say.
I've got nothing against this fishery or it's owner I just think that this and similar purely commercial business models are leading angling down a dangerous path.
One other point. This is not a syndicate. The paying anglers have no stake in the fishery and no say in the running or the rules. In fact it seems they very much have to do as they are told.
Again I have no problem with this but let's call things as they are.

Not all swims can be fished at once....the lake is seasonal, much quieter in the winter....a higher proportion of weekend anglers than weekday.... I could go on.
So yes, mathematically it could support 150 but realistically it never could. You would easily end up with every swim taken and anglers being turned away during the "peak" months....which has never and will never happen....
And as for it not being a syndicate.... ....by that definition there are virtually no syndicates in the country...again....bizarre that you single out Grenville

Unless he owns the lake, which with the land would have cost what? He will be paying a lease. Insurance, all the ground keeping. The cost of fencing the place. Stocking isn't cheap, and I belive he regularly feeds the fish, which won't be cheap.
There's an awful lot of money been put in to create a Fishery like this.

On your last point
Halfcentury is correct in what he's saying. Say you and a few pals all chip in X amount and did the lottery together with a bunch of numbers. If the numbers came in, you'd all share the prize money, same thing for a legit carp "syndicate", you all chip in X amount to cover costs per year, say you sold a few fish in a year, you pile the money back into the syndicate, come the end of the year, you divide all the money up if any is left over, pocket what the share is, rinse and repeat.
These so called syndicates are illusionary, just a weird tag, more like a member's club which gives you certain privileges over the course of a years membership.

I understand the definition of syndicate and was simply pointing out that going by his definition there are very few in the country....completely agree though, most lakes that you pay a yearly subscription to are nothing more than a glorified and to a certain extent exclusive club...

There is an 'industry standard' for working out membership numbers.
Number of swims X 3.5 = number of members. Apparently this works well.
I've been told that some work on 4 X number of swims.

That might work on some and not on others obviously. Some owners push it further, I was on a lake where there were 8 fishable swims, (10 at a push) and there was 45 members.....it was carnage most weekends and busy in the week.
The weekday/weekend rota tickets work well, you can have more members safe in the knowledge that a certain percentage are never going to be there from Friday to Sunday.....
I think most owners will push numbers as high as they dare, especially if it is their living. Fine line though.

These videos showing a team catching well can be misleading, they don't post the blanks or info on leg ups they got..
I fished it for 48 hours as a guest a few years ago. Very impressive lake, stunning place and very well managed and immaculately maintained banks.
I considered joining but was already a member of a superb quiet syndicate and Gren was 3 hours from mine which was an hour further than my current syndicate.
It's expensive and since I fished it membership has become much harder to obtain due to the fish sizes increasing fast and also many known YouTube anglers promoting it.
