I was told that 600 small mirrors (6-8lb) were stocked into VW a few years ago, probably 8-10 years ago (at a guess), I know my friend had a few small, very pretty mirrors out of there before he stopped catching.
In my opinion these are the mirrors that are being caught now, into the 30's.

Rules say 'no bait boats' - not a problem for me 'cos I haven't got one!
I'm going for a first look around, probably Tuesday, as the forecast looks fair, then booking a 'tour' (that's what it's offering on the leaflet). I'm hoping they've also got some photos of the fish - would be nice to see what's swimming around in there. I'll ask them about the lake stocking if I get a chance.

Went for a look round late this afternoon with a chap from the syndicate called Rob. The small lake looked very good for a spot of short session fishing, especially with the car park close by. Got some decent old mirrors in there up to 30+, and some of them look really old.
The big lake - bloody hell !! - where to start? Its over 4 miles around the lake edge, only got 50 swims, and we looked at a number of spots which have produced fish recently. I saw photos of some cracking fish - a mix of mirrors, commons, linears and a few large ghosties. Rob reckons they've had 19 different 30+ fish recorded since they started fishing it seriously, up to a top weight of just shy of 40lbs, and he's working on getting some of the photos uploaded to a new syndicate FB page they're setting up.
There's no records on site of any fish stock being introduced, but Rob did know of the supposed Leney 'link', and they've already sent photos of some of the older bigger fish to a known Leney expert, who thinks the oldest stock is most likely descended from a possible 1950s stock introduction mentioned in Leney's own diary. Got some big pike and big eels in there as well.
Recce work to try and find out where the fish might be is going to be time well spent, and you can use the car park pass whenever you want, even if you're not fishing. If you can't find the time to walk round, Rob says the syndicate bailiffs will always give you the latest info if you ask them. Could be a longish push to get the barrow to the furthest swims away from the car parks, so an electric barrow will be a good investment, or just travel as light as possible.
Looks to be a real challenge, pretty much untapped, and very different to places I've fished before. A lot of fishing for the money, so I've put my name on the applicants list, but can't join before April 1st.

Didn't say how many were on board - just said membership was available. I expect the price reduction is going to pull a few in - that's why I got in quick, just in case it fills right up.

That's what I thought when I saw the leaflet. Not knowing the lakes, I'm glad I went along and had a look. Just waiting to hear now if I've got a place - fingers crossed!

I didn't get asked to provide any references - it was just a sort of informal chat and discussion about what I've done fishing-wise, where I've fished before, PBs, did I know about the lakes etc. It was more Rob telling me about how it all worked, got to see a photo album of some of their recent catches and a good look round the two lakes. Expect that's what you'll get if you're going on the same tour as I did. Enjoy your tour - its an impressive place.

Nice one. I had a chat with Andy and just waiting to go round with rob my last visit got cancelled due to the park being closed because of high winds. I was glad to hear they are only taking 50 people on. They only had 18 last year.
