Sounds like pure sour grapes to me, what happened? Enter the same comp and not win? Give the fella a break all he is doing is sacrificing something he'd probably love to keep just to support his family who clearly are as they should be his number 1 priority.

Just seen on classifieds that you have managed to sell the reels.I hope you find a new job soon and dont have to sell anything else 
If I had the cash spare myself, I would have had them off you & if I wanted to sell them at a later date (or if your situation changed), would have sold them back to you at the same price (or less if they had been beaten up a little - which obviously wouldn't be deliberate with those reels).
I was medically retired almost a decade ago now & know exactly what you are going through. Needed to sell some bits, but the only people interested were the "traders" who wanted to pay nothing for the items & then sell them for the same as what I had them listed for originally (which was too high according to them!). In the end I just ended up putting my head down & doing what I could to keep a roof over my head & food on the table (didn't sell the gear in the end). Exactly the same thing now happening. Have listed some items elsewhere for sale at reasonable prices bearing in mind that most have been used once & still in original boxes/packaging & could pass as new in a shop), yet only interest is "traders" offering 25% of what I have the items up for (which is at least 30% less than what they cost me!).
I refuse to deal with "traders" (you can tell by looking at how often they are listing different items for sale) now regardless if buying or selling & would rather keep the stuff or give it to a youngster than sell it to someone who is going to make a profit from it & taking the money from you that you need more than them (else you wouldn't be selling most of the time). Just my own principles & obviously everyone is out to make some money at end of day.

So it's OK for a shop to make a profit in order to pay staff, rent, suppliers etc but not OK for OP to make a profit to pay for food for his wife and kids, rent/mortgage and bills?
Going on what a lot of the posts you see regarding items of tackle, nobody is allowed to make a profit according the those out there constantly having a go at the tackle companies for ripping people off with their prices. It is these people who seem to think that Korda (as an example) make every penny out of a £5 pack of hooks, when the tackle shop/dealer makes more money from the product than the manufacturer does in a lot of the cases.
Everyone has a choice at end of day when buying or selling. You either will pay the money or accept a low ball offer or you won't. If its a bona fide tax paying company offering me a price then obviously they want to make a profit to keep the business running, but a lot of the time, with regards to "traders" on angling sites etc, they aren't declaring the money they make from buying & selling most of the time, yet still say that the tackle companies are ripping people off because the companies do pay their taxes & staff on top of R&D etc.
