Gone against morals? I don't know, you'd have to ask Oz Holness that one.
I can't see what he's done that's so morally wrong, though.
He's had a career as a fireman. He's literally put his life on the line to save the lives of others. So, if he wants to change his mind, or his morals as you put it, and earn a bit of money to support his family, by working as a sponsored angler, I really don't see what the problem is.

The common denominator that all successful anglers share wether a name or not is unparalleled 'dedication' regardless of constraints or even advantages. Despite all best day dreams not all would achieve similar results as when it comes down to it to be th at driven is beyond most.

I think I joined the forum in 2008 and I've learnt more from the 20,000 plus members on here than any podcast, DVD, book, sales pitch or Mr self promotion
The best angler out there for me is usually the one with the next great post, and a number of them have replied to your thread.

I personally don't think there is anyone anymore.
COVID has evened the playing field with anglers now fishing all throughout the week.
The question should be "who is the most advantaged angler by fishing full time and has the correct tickets to fish the waters that contain decent fish"..
I turn towards the guys that fish the rivers nowadays, especially the Thames. These guys are some of the best in there game that still fish one of the last bastions we have in this country. Most of them hold down full time jobs and have commitments. The leg work they put in to catch is immense.
I personally don't think there is anyone anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong, from what I've heard, wasn't it Oz that cocked swim X up on Ferry that now no-one can now fish from because of him taking the piss in the outta bounds? Didn't do none too well on Ferry that year, like zero on the bank whilst others were catching around him.
Shelley... on how they conduct themselves
Shelley lost the Fen Drayton syndicate due to him being over the reserves when he didn't have permission, also, swore and ragged apparently at one of the head female RSPB bods which didn't go down too well, and then there's the snide 50lb linear that he scooped out of the ditch between Ferry and Swavsey claiming he caught it on a spod rod and pop up. There's more to the Ferry Linear story. Well dodgement.

Just to add: apart from the dodgy Linear from the ditch, which has been confirmed by a very good source, all the rest of it could all be a load of old nuts for all I know as I wasn't there when these thing happened.

There's not too many really successful carp anglers who haven't pulled a stroke or two throughout their time, some small and some bloody huge!
There are certainly those that are naturally talented and just seem to know where the fish are an exactly how to catch them, those that work incredibly hard at their craft and some that have so much time they literally bore them out.
Whilst I have admiration for some as Carp Anglers unfortunately it is a very selfish pursuit and in turn produces some not very nice, selfish people.

Regarding the pulling of strokes, the best say nothing and enjoy the moment for themselves.
So it goes without saying the top anglers are the ones who enjoy it the most.

But i do like watching Tom Dove aswell
I personally think i could still learn a thing or two from him after all these years fishing
Chilly is another one, Also been watching Matt Collings lately hes a very knowledgeable fisherman, I would also have to put Peck and Fairbrass in amoungst it also
