Wouldn't call any of them higher end Tbh other than the price tag . The quality of yesteryear from those makers is long gone, it was well on its way back in the late 90s when I was still in the trade, Merc especially. Cars are all much of a muchness these days, some of the "lower end" manufacturers are just as reliable if not more so than the "big names". My brother has just bought one of the Kia mpv things and I laughed my ass off at him until I actually saw it. What a motor . And for a way lower price than most of its competiton. It's very much like your comment about Cotswold Aquarius, people buy for the name and not the product on offer

That's more the case that lower end cars have upped there game. Kia Skoda etc. It's not just about reliability it's also about the quality of the end product

Actually Skoda weren't bad cars back before vag group took over, it was at a Skoda garage I started my apprenticeship. If anything they've now gone the other way and are expensive and not so reliable. Surely the quality of a product is primarily it's reliability,no?

I think half the reliability problems nowadays is people using diesel for short journeys and the dreaded dpf. To many people choose the wrong car.

I seem to hear more and more about small petrol engine troubles now. Hardly surprising when they whack a big turbo on small engines. A lot of manufacturers are suffering the same problems

Only on this forum could you go from a stick to hold your camera to a debate about quality of cars
