I realise this thread is about buyers in the UK buying from outside but for the other way around.
I'm currently selling a £15 item on ebay using their Global Shipping Programme.
If a buyer in France wants it he will have to pay £9.63 for the extra postage, a buyer in Jersey will have to pay £18.93 and a buyer in Australia £18.71
That doesn't sound right to me so my guess is because it's still early days things on ebay will change as time goes on.
That's ebay can't comment on general commerce.

It's not. The first post was about people abroad buying from UK retailers and getting stuff sent abroad, just like you're doing on Ebay Bob.
But the thread title, just like the brexit problems and delays, works both ways.

That Global Shipping Programme has been a rip off since day one.
Ebay/Pitney Bowes charging import fees and duties and on numerous occasions not
handing them over to the relevant gov. dep.
Auto calculation of fees/duties that were 2X the price of the item.
Buying from the U.S used to be a very economical proposition...since sellers enrolled or were auto enrolled for selling overseas it became a right swindle.

Surely someone in Jersey shouldn't have to pay more than someone from France and certainly not Australia.
The charges mentioned are a combination of postage and import duty that ebay charge to ship from the UK.

The GSP maybe a rip off for the buyer but as an occasional seller I've found it a good idea.
I send the item to ebay and they take responsibility from there on.
I've had buyers from France, Italy, Finland, Germany and Ireland all bumping up the prices , winning stuff and paying ebay the extra to get it. All I do is send it to ebay in the UK

I was searching on Ebay, and usually buy from the UK, but with shipping + extra customs all this is way too expensive.
Bought my gear from Estonia instead.
Will have to buy my tackle an bait elsewhere. Or maybe some have already started with depots on the mainland to supply European customers without all the hassle.

I'm in the UK and bought something from a UK seller yesterday and noticed something different.
I clicked that I wanted to 'Buy It Now' and it said something like by doing this you legally agreeing to buy. Then there was an asterisk by the 'Buy It Now' price that said there could be added taxes.
Being UK to UK there wasn't any extras but thought it was a bit strange that if there was I wouldn't know until I entered the legal agreement.
You should be made aware of any extras before clicking 'Buy It Now'
