Never been put in the position thankfully. The only thing to take from this post is get tackle insurance. If push comes to shove you could let 5 blokes take your gear and have peace of mind you ain't got to save up for years to get your money back. I don't care if your Muhammad Amir Bruce lee if 5 blokes want your gear there having it,

Precisely mate, I boxed as a young man, it saved me from getting into trouble, I'm hot headed at the best of times it taught me control as well and I can genuinely say if I woke up and saw two guys nicking my gear I wouldn't do a thing I'm not risking my life for fishing tackle I have a missus and we are trying to start a family I'm not risking that for something I have insurance on

Been there and done it although it was my cars at home they were after and they had the weapons not me.
All 4 of em head to toe in black and wired on drugs.
My dog nearly got it too.
It just does not happen like you think, complete element of surprise is on their side and it ain't like the movies let me tell ya.

Spot on. You're right, there's a good chance that you would get battered, and still lose your tackle.
....And if you won the fight and gave them a battering, you think that would be the end of it? At the very best, you will never be safe to fish that venue again.

I've been done twice on the bank,1st time it happened was my own fault, the weather was terrible, strong winds and driving rain into my bivvy so zipped the door down..around an hour later I had 3 bleeps of the buzzers all at same time.i just put it down to the weather and went back to kip..in the morning unzipped the door to not see 3 Richie Mac rods and 3 ss3000s obviously the 3 bleeps I had was them cutting the lines..2nd time I got done, i was in my bag asleep when one bloke sat on me while the other cut my lines and legged it with my rods and reels..not much I could do about that, the bloke weighed a ton..by the time he had got up and legged it with his mate they was over the fence before I got out the bag....I just use **** get nowadays,no one would nick it..
