Yes the sling is separate,the mat looks well thought out.I like how it folds up and how quick it is to unpack/pack up without losing any padding on the base

I watched it too. Looks very robust. The only downside is it doesn't have a cover when it's open for carrying the carp back to the water. The ngt and sonik ones do have this cover
