Should be fine with small spods like your using, and for short distances. But inwoukdnt want to be putting too much through that braid, mainly due to the diameter and cutting into your finger, unless using a stall i suppose. You could always try a thicker braided leader

I think you tied it wrong. I'm not saying it's impossible that the double uni came apart, I'd just say that I'd be really surprised if it did. Mahin knots undo themselves as it's happened to me 3 times on the bounce, never a double uni with ultra thin braid.

I've never got on with the back to back grinner (assuming you did tie it 'back to back') Instead try using a Mahin knot 10 down 6 back and leave the tag ends about a 1cm long

The cheap ones are cheap for a reason ok for short distance work 60-80 years but you'll blow them up soon enough. I had 5 cheap ones and two broke so far my spomb has taken a beating in comparison.
