It was mate, i used to fish doggets in the days before it was properly taken over and my first job was working for nashy 28 years ago when he was at Brook road in Rayleigh, anyway I'd done a work overnighter and caught my first 20 which was a well known fish locally (nicked from aquatels i believe) and nashy came out and congratulated me with a message from Dave Potter who'd informed him of the capture, he said a bigger one jumped on the otherside of swan island, you couldn't get anything past Dave lol! Sorry to the op I've gone off track.

I wonder if he designed them for weald bottom lake? he did lots of time there, unless yavas was all in the edge when he was in the syndicate.

It is a shame, not many traditional shops left around here now. i think the best thing about penge apart from Dave and Martin was the incredible smell you used to get from the flavours as soon as you went in, it always smelt like a sweet shop. i couldn't afford much of what they sold but i spent a lot of time browsing in there and Dave was always happy to impart wisdom and suffer the barrage of questions i always had for him! I think the word patient springs to mind haha!

I have a pair of the original 1 3/4lb. with the penge angling/ geoff kemp logos and the green/black whippings. beautiful action when playing a fish. now surplus to requirements(i am 83 and no longer drive). was going to sell them cheap but now i am wondering. does anyone know if there is a market for them. i bought the secondhand over 30years ago.

Got a feeling a few of them were using Armalites, as per Gary Thomas and Mark England. Those two could cast forever.
