This wasn't a case of the hook popping out as it was drawn over the net, the hook pulled close in and the fish was in shallow water. The angler then consciously made an effort to scoop up a fish he had lost/ was no longer connected to and claimed it. Seems that the majority think this is acceptable, whereas I really don't. If the hook pings out as the fish is drawn over the net then it counts. If it falls out and then you have to make an effort to scoop it up with your net it doesn't.

Does it really matter to you this much if this happens to someone and they claim it.

So the title is a question, and my question is does it really matter if someone wants to claim it.

Personally i wouldn't have claimed it but like someone has already said its between him and his conscience

The fish in question was odds on to have been stocked with the sole intention of long stay anglers catching it, coaxed with food out of sync with its own biology, nailed with a self hooking lead arrangement, made it's presence known via electronic bite indication..... and we're questioning the morality of scooping it into a net

It counts for me.
Rig worked, bait worked, spot worked, tackle worked , other than a bit of faffing around at the end its good for me.
It's only fishing......
I lived and breathed league snooker for 20 years, played a world champion at an exhibition and he fluked the black to win, do you think the frame didn't count and he handed me the win,rubbish, it's part of the game things not going as planned.
It counts for me.

I think the discussion should continue asking if netting a second fish counts?
