My Mrs has had a louis Vuitton monogram handbag and matching purse and bits, she brought it 20 years ago and still uses it daily. It is still going strong and all the bits are still used. It cost £1800 and the bits roughly came to £800, a lot of money 20 years ago! but her mates have regularly had had 3 to 4 bags a year in this time and at approx. £50 each. So initial outlay against regular purchase you takes your pick!
Thats why i try to buy good equipment which hopefully lasts. But looking at some of the tat these days its getting harder to find. I dont mind paying for quality but not Chinese imports at UK built prices!

But Ridgemonkey is not Louis Vuitton. If they were a clothing brand they they would be at best Next. Coming into the market in a field they have zero pedigree, copying the proven Oz Tent design and charging premium prices. At least with Trakker we always know the next offering is going to be a rip off

Don't see any attraction in these bivvies at all....

Agreed they aren't exactly pleasing on the eye. I can't see that the one man offers any real benefits over a one man tempest. But for guys who do longer sessions in France a few times a year or who regularly fish with their Mrs or kids, I actually think the larger two man versions could be perfect. Plenty of width and head room and that porch area to either cook in or to store wet gear etc. Over even to sit under in hot conditions during the day in some shade.
I actually think they will sell quite a few of these to session guys, let's face it anyone who can afford three or four french trips a year isn't gonna be that worried about the cost of one of these.

I think ridgemonkey will sell a vast load of these .
You see 70% of carp anglers these days are just add water , they thrive on having the latest must have items from hip new brands who provide for the gullable .
I have identified their target market , under 35 not over 45 .
Been fishing less than 8 years .
Think they are chavs by describing carp under 40 lb chunks and over 40 a unit .
When you walk past they look as thou their **** don't stink and believe they are the bollox .
They photograph everything and pat each other on the back .
They pay any amount for old school gear to show they have been doing it longer than they have .

Not really surprised at these prices, no doubt they will sell.....after all ....people are daft enough to pay £40 for a bivvy light with a remote control.....when the light is literally less than a foot from your head

ive never recovered from ripping my nails off trying to open the rm bucket system thing...rm seem to be making alot of money,they seem to have a certain following that will buy anything they bring out

I fish a hard water and every fish is hard earned, I'll photograph a double if I have one! And congratulating a fellow angler is a bad thing?

The whole reason there is a market for these products is choice, if you go to work and earn a few quid surely you've got a choice on what you spend it on? Just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't mean others shouldn't buy it
Have you actually seen these Bivvy's in the flesh so to speak? I very much doubt it.
I saw them at the Brentwood show yesterday and they look great for the long stay angler that tends to book a swim and stay in it for a week or two. Whilst they are a similar design to the Oz Tents mentioned below I think they have a lot more in terms of features for Anglers.
Yes they are expensive and maybe overkill for most anglers but there is definitely a market for them.
I personally wouldn't buy one as I like to be a bit more mobile and really can't justify spending that on a Bivvy. The quality looked to be spot on, the material is on a different level to the wafer thin stuff that was on the Trakker stand next door, my mate who I went with was dead set on getting a Trakker Tempest 150 for Foreign trips but he's having a re-think now he's seen the RM ones. Also 2 other fellas I know put orders in yesterday for them, they'll definitely sell just to a target market which isn't the one you've described

Or better still go and sit under your leaky old brolly, on your Lafuma Bed with rods sat on a set of Herons you've owned since new with Fly Hooks buried in Boiled Potatoes and await that churner... oh but don't tell anyone where you're doing it as your so old school you don't even know it.

I have not seen them in the flesh but from what i have seen they have some good features to be honest.
But i did look at the front with the small porch/ extension bit and did wonder how this would act in a full on frontal blow. It looked like it could act like a parachute.
As for the price well people will pay it but time will tell if it its worth it.

I probably am your target. Iv been fishing about 15 year so i like to think I know a little bit. My tackle is mostly top end but I work hard for it. I don't look down on people who have less than me so why would you put people into categories. Just because I'm young and I want to look the part why should people like you slate me?
