The "Y" bit the line sits on is not the sensor.
The sensor is at the base of the "Y", and the "Y" is attached to the sensor.
So virtually impossible for it to determine which way the line is moving.

It will be available on next model which will be out in about 15 years time
Has Delkim's patent run out yet. I've never known a patent to last so long.

It's entirely possible to detect direction but the electronics employed on older Delks are are not up to the task. As for the new ones I doubt it.

I thought it would be possible but wasnt sure on the way it works inside to be fair. im happy with mine anyway, as far as i know they work fine, dont get to fish enough/blank when i do to know if they dont lol.

The only think that irritates me is when you you buy new top end alarms of GBP 550 a set, you still need to buy additional snag ears if you want eradicate getting your rod pulled of.
I was ok with that for the old model models as the snag ears were released later than the TXI's, but for this models they could/should have included that or changed the design. Now you need to add another 50 pounds which I think is strange.

They aren't just necessary, they are absolutely essential. How do you expect to catch if you don't look the part?

It's a bit of a con and I very much doubt I'd spend money on the new Delkims nor would I recommend them. They offer very little if any real improvement that I can see. Maybe I'm missing the whole R bit and rattle factor but I think it's additional hassle for little to no return Delkims sale pitch was unclear to me.
They probably still f*uck up in heavy rain.
The case should have been designed with out the crap aerial at the base which always traps line and should of been incorporated in the extended snag ears (case work). I think it's a real shame and a half arsed attempt. People will buy them, however the market is wide open to shame the granny out of Delkims market share, the ACE was a serious contender but failed and Fox continue to play at it, ATT have a long standing product that has some great virtues, Nash to have a decent product.
I don't think Delkim have been very innovative with these and look forward to seeing what the others produce during the next couple of years.
On the other hand it will allow people to purchase second hand Delkims at a decent price.

in most cases no, however ive had them on a few occasions over the years in certain swims save the rod so for whatever they cost it was worth it!
on the old delks it improved the rear case too

I don't think this will be the case as Fox Ntxr's have gone up a fair chunk in value since the replacements came out

Been a delk user for years, I think I've had four different sets over the years. Having seen these new ones, if my txis die then I'd either buy a second hand set or just buy Nevilles. The new ones do nothing for me. Too many button presses, too many features, just way too much stuff for a middle aged man like me.
Txi - turn on. Set on +. Turn sensitivity to 3. Sit down. Relax.
New delk - turn on. Do about twenty different button presses. Try to remember if it's three flashes of the led or was it two flashes and two beeps, or four beeps and three flashes to get what I want. Do I hold both buttons, or only one, or one then the other? Look up instructions on delkim website. Get confused. Scratch head. Give up.
