I'm not going enough at the moment to catch loads - work/family.

And yes, probably over thinking it with freezing it several times over the ten days. I want something in there as attraction of course.

I think moving forwards 24 hours is plenty (for me).

I never wash out fresh baits as I use my own mix & am happy with the consistency, the attractors & how I feel they release them.

for readymades I always soak them & have done for over 20 years after noticing the difference between using a hookbait out of my hemp bucket vs one straight from the bag when using Nutrabaits Cream Cajouser readymades. Constant bites on hemp water baits & nothing on the plain ones. I have always used something in soak - liquid foods, fish sauce, etc - I just want something in there to boost them - It's only been over recent years that I have been a bit more aware of microbial activities & their benefits in carp baits & have started playing with those theories a bit more. LOTS of papers out there around positive effects of some sort of fermented element within their feed & there are many successful attractors that are found in nature as foodstuffs break down - NBA, Esters, hydro's, sugars etc

not sure about not using baits because they are rancid / have gone off. these are concepts that we apply to the food that we eat as modern humans - the tastes & smells that we experience & are completely made up within our brains when receptors in our bodies interact with certain chemicals. (modern food processing has completely screwed up a lot of how we instinctually react to food with chemicals & taste enhancers added to fool us - The Dorito / Pringles effect)

carp have evolved completely differently & will have their own brains reactions to the same chemicals, depending on how certain foodstuffs have played their part in the carp's evolution. (same for frequencies of light & how they see color). just because we experience something in a certain way, doesn't mean that other creatures do as well.

with respect to the success of washed out freezer baits - I think there is a bit of everything that contributes towards them working better - one of my favorites is the softness allows the carp to crush them up easier which not only helps with digestion but also helps create gustatory clouds of flavor which help with feeding stimulation - something that stephen white has spoken about a few times on his podcasts & explains a lot better than I can.
