I suppose it's like most things associated with our past time, ideas are rethought, recycled and hopefully improved, I've ordered the BW, liking the idea of producing plenty of pellets before hand, pre dry a bit and get them out there.

when I worked in a tackle shop we had this guy that kept coming in for open end feeders, he kept coming back and buying 5 or 6 at a time,over the week he cleared us out. when I explained to him we had none left he asked if there was any other ways of getting his groundbait to the bottom. I asked how he was setting his feede rod up and why he had lost so many feeders. he said he was float fishing 😮 I asked what he was using the feeders for and he said to feed the swim.. he was mixing his groundbait,pushing it inside his feeder moulding more round it and just throwing them in🤦
I told him to get his groundbait bucket and grabbed one of the ripped bags of groundbait from the back,showed hi how to mix his gb,riddled it,let it rest,added some more water and riddled again. then formed these gb balls the size of oranges that binded lovely....he was extremely grateful 🙏

From memory, about a third of PV1 to two thirds stick mix.

I remember buying up a load of Rod Hutchinson ready made bait sticks monster crab think it was ? they were about 3" long at Big one at Chertsey it was at the end of the show and bought about 6 x 1 kgs bags for peanuts
used them in my bait boat on french trips caught plenty of fish so it didnt put them off

Reference my earlier post, Jim Gibbinson wrote about it in his 1974 book "Carp" in the "Long Range Fishing" chapter and refers to them as a "Groundbait cake". These you used to buy ready made, just thread the line through it and tie the hook on.

Vested interest alert.

Carp-Tart never copy, ever, the badger and Gardner ones were first but the side slot was a nightmare. Not only did the CT version solve this the compression gained by the engineering and lack of air release is totally different.

When first made PV1 was advocated - but I now use mine with Horlicks and made in advance they are fishable at good mid range. Also pulting our sticks is super easy and not like pva that is time and £s.

Carp Tart try not to comment on social and forums, as it's only ever been a hobby, trying to tinker and make bits that nobody else does or at least advance them. This isn't a cop out - but don't like commenting on our stuff but couldn't resist this one

Spot on,
Straight from the horses mouth so to speak, I've looked at the Gardner one in the past but didn't like the slot, the BW sorts this, mine arrives in the coming days from the TB.
Looking forward to giving it a go, thanks for the heads up on Horlicks I'll look into that, are you able to give any pointers regarding amount added as a % please??
Got to say I love the smell of Horlicks so that's a bonus 😂😂😂🙈

Blimey Horlicks as a binder, that's a blast from the past. We used to use it in groundbait back in the seventies. Perfect for the job.

horlocks is good as sticky mag, makes great balls off maggots

Absolutely right. We used to do that with floating maggots as well.

Just looked at my old Badger "Bait Bomb", moulded into the plastic is "Fryer's Baitledger".
