That sounds like the pawl is loose on the drive gear shaft, pop her off and gently squeeze together so it has a bit more resistance mate

I checked it and the anti reverse pawl spring is fine.
So I have had them apart again and I think I know what the issue is...
The smear of grease on the main shaft might be pushing the pinion gear down onto the pinion collar.
I think the pinion gear would "free float" on the main shaft better if I wipe off the grease and just put a little dribble of oil on it and stop it rubbing on the collar.
If I turn back half a turn the pinion gear moves back up the shafts due to the viscosity of the grease. The grease isn't a bad thing and I could live with the slight noise if it means the shaft is better lubricated.
I might have a further look tomorow.
BTW, I had thoroughly cleaned out the bearings and pinion gears, then before reassembly I have opened the bearings and packed both sides with grease.
Some pictures, and hopefully these will help show where the anti reverse cog/gear is and how to get to it.
Take the rotor off, then you can see the three screws that hold the main bearing in. These will have to come out, as well as the side plate.
Here you can see the anti reverse cog (two pieces). Slide the pinion gear along the main shaft to bring it out of the reel body.
The pinion gear slides alng the main shafts and comes out with the bearing and a/r cog.

The pinion gear when dissasembled does have some movement but when you put the rotor on and tighten the nut it takes all of that movement away. L promise you it will be the pawl on the drive gear shaft mate, its hard to tell by rotating it by hand on the shaft but just a little extra resistance will stop that issue

Baitman i have just had a close look at your pinion pictures, closest to the pinion teeth you have the wrong set up. The thin stainless washer should be 1st, then the antireverse cogs then the brass ring spacer then the bearing then the top washer

I suppose logically the ar cogs are sitting in a different position relative to the tooth so it may help but If the order doesn't stop the slight clicking then as mentioned earlier its normally the pawl as theres not enough resistance to keep the tooth in its lifted position on retrieve, when you turn the part on its own it should be reasonably stiff so if it rotates very easily its too loose. The pawl should slso sit into the recess/gap on the ar tooth.

It's quite springy/pingy when off and there is a bit of tension when it's back on so it's lifting the a/r lever as it should.
I still get the very slight noise with the anti reverse in the off position.
I will have a look inside later

I swapped the steel and brass spacers. I cleaned the thin smear of grease from the shaft and inside and surface of the pinion gear and put a drop of oil on it. I also gave the pawl spring to make it a bit tighter, but it was already gripping the back of the main drive gear.
Just the same.
I have swapped the two spacers back to how they were. I have tried the pawl spring different ways around, with the longer arm inside the a/r pawl, with the > shape inside, and also both the other way up. All the same.
Pah, I'm leaving it.
